Astrology and the Individual: An Astrologer Looks at the Rise of Marxism & Postmodernism

In natal astrology and the study of the birth chart of an individual, astrologers develop a deep understanding that we are looking at the specific destiny of an individual, and that that individual will have a destiny that is not going to be equal to all others in respect to abilities, health, wealth, status, education, marriage, or relationships.  Nor do we invent that a planet or zodiacal sign suddenly has new meaning and/or gender assignment because we reject previous traditional knowledge on the subject, as in Postmodernism, which rejects previous universalist ideas of objective reality, morality, truth, human nature, reason, science, language, and social progress.  Postmodernism rejects Marxism and Christianity, among others in a long list of what it considers failed meta-narratives. Coronavirus – The Bigger Picture & Time-Lines

The year 2020 was always the target year, both politically and astrologically.  The  Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Dec. 2020 highlights an astrological target year, and with it many non-astrological factors that can also be described by the planets.  When the JU-SA conjunctions started to dominate in sidereal EARTH signs, from Sept. 9, 1921, the shift began from the previous FIRE period that had featured the power of both religion and the nation-state. Coronavirus – War Against “the Invisible Enemy”

The last time we fought “the Invisible Enemy” – in real and also astrological terms –  was in Sept. 2001, with the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and elsewhere.  This time a public health crisis is affecting almost all nations in the world, most of which are currently on lockdown.  Again as in 2001, international trade  and travel are radically disrupted, this time to an unprecedented degree, at least from mid-March 2020 onward. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Brexit – Finally!

“My chances of being PM are about as good as the chances of finding Elvis on Mars, or my being reincarnated as an olive.”   Boris Johnson (age 40), The Independent, 2004.

And yet on July 24, 2019 Boris Johnson did become U.K. Prime Minister (at age 55), with his mandate assured in a nationwide election five months later.  Vedic astrology could have told us that Johnson would be greatly elevated in the public sphere within a few months before or after Sept. 9, 2016. “If you vote no – you’re legitimizing the most despicable thing I have ever seen in my time in politics,” said a furious Senator Lindsay Graham to Republican colleagues at Brett Kavanaugh’s Judicial Committee hearing Sept. 27, 2018, also dubbed the Sexual Assault Hearing.  On their side, Democrats decided the hearing was also despicable, but for totally different reasons.  Some of this was echoed in the T-shirts of battling supporters outside the Dirksen Senate Office building that morning, with a much admired anti-Kavanaugh T-shirt reading “Men are Trash” and a pro-Kavanaugh T-shirt reading “I Stand with Brett.”  Continue reading →

FROM INFORMATION AGE TO SURVEILLANCE STATE – HOW DID WE GET HERE?

The Information Age has brought with it both progress and retrogression. Some consider it simply the dark and light sides of capitalism and capitalist modernization, thus something that both emancipates and crushes. Astrologically, the Information Age in our era began formally in 1980-1981 with the triple Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in sidereal Virgo, the sign that Mercury, the communications planet, owns and where it is exalted. The JU-SA conjunctions occur every 20 years, but when they occur three times at the 20-year mark, a relative rarity, this gives extra potency to the conjunctions, and brings extra intensity and acceleration both to the period and to the arena over which Mercury has domain. In addition, this set of triple conjunctions occurred in Hasta nakshatra (the hand), reflecting the new information technology’s hands-on practical approach, along with its hand-held devices, completely changing the way people live, work, and communicate.  Continue reading →

Jupiter & Saturn: Planets of Dharma & Karma

In the Upanishads of ancient India, the jewel of consciousness is seen to manifest itself in “all that shines: the sun, moon, fire, and speech.” The brightest lights in the sky are earth’s key luminaries. What we should be doing here, the waxing and waning energy of life itself can be seen in the Sun and Moon and their interactions with each other. Human aspiration is always linked to them, as well as to fire and speech. The nature of Dharma is also that of fire. It governs the Ascendant – the beginning of life. Dharma is always present, but becomes more powerful as we understand how our true nature shows a purpose for being here and receiving this light in its various forms. Continue reading →

GATT and WTO are Born

Another major turning point in the globalization process was the creation of the WTO (the World Trade Organization). This came about through the passage of GATT (General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs). Though GATT was in formulation stages since 1947, it was the so- called “Uruguay Round of GATT” that created the WTO. This occurred when the U.S. Congress and Senate passed this legislation on December 1, 1994. Using 12 noon for Washington DC, since there is no exact time, the Ascendant is 1:21 Aquarius.
